Works in the Rovaniemi Art Museum's collection exhibition "Traces" 12.2.2021-13.3.2022 and in the Hämeenlinna Art Museum's collection exhibition "Our Choice" 20.5.-11.9.2022. In addition, Pekka Luukkola´s video work "Sense of time" will be presented to a wide audience as a pop-up exhibition of the Hämeenlinna Art Museum in the shopping center Goodman from June 27 to August 18, 2022.

3.6.–6.9.2020 Private exhibition "Maiseman aika – Sense of Time" at Jyväskylä Art Museum.Exhibition includes 40 works from years 2006–2020.

4.11.2019 Professor Juha Karhu's portrait unveiling ceremony at the Kumpula campus of the University of Helsinki. The portrait of Professor of Geosciences and Geography Karhu, photographed by Pekka Luukkola, was received by the university's chancellor Kaarlo Hämeri and it is part of the university's art collection, Galleria Academica.

October 2017. The year 2017 marks Finland 100th anniversary as an independent state. Pekka Luukkola´s special exhibition, including about 25 landscape photographs from Finland, will respect this anniversary. Exhibition is part of the Finland 100 programme in 2017 and is possible to see at Book fairs in Turku at 6.– 8.10. and in Helsinki at 26.–29.10.2017.

5.–26.3.2016 Private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola at Galleria Heino including 12 new photographs and the video "Sense of time"

12.2.2016 Public examination of the Pekka Luukkola´s doctoral dissertation in Aalto University´s Sampo hall at 12 pm. Custos: professor Merja Salo, opponent: PhD. Leena Saraste.

6.12.2013   Independence Day gala concert and reception hosted by the President of the Republic were celebrated at Tampere Hall. At the concert Pekka Luukkola´s landscapes and photographs were shown on a large screen above the stage for about 2000 guests of honor and 2 million TV viewer.

8.10.2012   Pekka Luukkola's new book Maiseman aika - Sense of time" is published at Tampere Art Museum on 14th October at 3 pm. The book contains 144 pages, texts also in english, and it presents Luukkola's different series of works and opens up new perspectives on the Finnish landscape

25.8.2012 - 6.1.2013   Private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola on the top two floors of the Tampere Art Museum, including about 60 works from the years 2006 - 2012. At the same time, works by J.M.W Turner are on display in the museum's basement.

25.11. - 18.12.2011   Private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola at Galleria Heino in Helsinki, including new Solar Intensity and Forest series from Ars Fennica competition, together with about twenty new works.

1.2.2011   Announcement of the candidates for the Ars Fennica Prize 2011 at the Amos Andersson Art Museum in Helsinki. The competition for this most coveted of Finnish prizes for the pictorial arts will be between the artists Adel Abidin, Terike Haapoja, Hannaleena Heiska, Anssi Kasitonni and Pekka Luukkola. 3.6. – 29.8.2010   Summer season at the Retretti Art Centre, with the main exhibition devoted to the works of Helene Schjerfbeck. Featured in the Retretti Caves is an extensive private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola comprising part of the artistic material belonging to his doctoral thesis.

18. – 22.3.2010   ArtParis fair at the Grand Palais in Paris. Visit the Galleria Heino exhibit for works by Pekka Luukkola, Jarmo Mäkilä and Kristiiina Uusitalo.

7. – 29.3.2009   Private exhibition by Pekka Luukkola at Galleria Heino, including the Maan varjossa series that was so successful in the Fotofinlandia competition, together with about twenty new works. Click here for more details.

21.11.2008   Announcement of the results of the Fotofinlandia competition at the offices of Helsingin Sanomat in Helsinki. Exhibition of photographs entered by the finalists chosen from the seven qualifying competitions. The overall competition was won by Hannes Heikura, a press photographer with Helsingin Sanomat. 19.11.2008   Sale of Finnish photographic art at Christies in London, including works by Elina Brotherus, Miklos Gaal, Ola Kolehmainen, Marjukka Vainio and Jorma Puranen. Pekka Luukkola’s ”Rowing” was among the works sold.

19.10.2008   Announcement of the finalists in the Fotofinlandia competition of 2008 at the Finlandia Hall, in the presence of the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, and her husband, Dr. Pentti Arajärvi. The original 128x100 cm exhibition prints of Pekka Luukkola’s Fotofinlandia series Maan varjossa were on display, and Luukkola’s multivision presentation to accompany the tune Walking in the Air had its first performance.

27.10. – 18.11.2007   Works by Pekka Luukkola in a joint exhibition with Jyrki Parantainen, Marjukka Vainio and others at Galleria Heino. Pekka Luukkola’s own private exhibition at Galleria Heino is due to open in March 2009.

8.5.2007   A landscape photograph by Pekka Luukkola on display at the Eurovision Song Contest. The heads of all the national delegations to the contest were presented with a souvenir copy of his Matka Suomeen – Journey into Finland.

24.10.2006   Cloth prints, size 25x3 and 16x5 metres, of landscape photographs by Pekka Luukkola on display at the Ecofin and Asem summit conference venues in Helsinki and at other summits in Lahti and Brussels during Finland’s presidency of the EU.

14.2.2005   15 large-sized landscape photographs on display at the Finlandia Hall for the Nature Photograph of the Year gala evening, in the presence of the President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, and her husband, Dr. Pentti Arajärvi

4.2.2004   MTV3, 45-minute programme on Pekka Luukkola.

10.3.2004   Finnish representative in the Euro Press Photo Awards 2004 competition, held in Rome. The jury for the preliminary competition in Finland had described Luukola’s entry as representing ”a powerful, genuine atmosphere combined with high-quality implementation”.

28.9. – 3.10.2004   Landscape photographs to represent Finland at the Photokina Fair in Cologne.

18.03.2004   Matka Suomeen – Journey into Finland chosen as a Distinguished Book of the Year 2003 by the Finnish Book Arts Committee. The jury’s evaluation read: “An impressive book of pictures employing exceptionally fine photographic techniques combined with high-quality printing work and impeccable typography.”
